Special Education Advocate (Marcie Lipsitt)
Description
Marcie Lipsitt is a special education advocate representing children with disabilities and their parents in disputes with public school districts. Her practice focuses on the rights of students with disabilities pursuant to the Individuals with disabilities Education Act. She is a passionate advocate that has represented students and their parents in connection with Student Classification, IEPDevelopment, Extended School Year, Transition Planning and Discipline. She has worked on behalf of her clients with school districts and Intermediate school districts throughout the Metropolitan Detroit Area, Washtenaw County and Ingham County. She has also assisted many parents in developing the skills they need to advocate for their children’s rights. Ms. Lipsitt is a tireless advocate for children with disabilities. She has written widely on issues related to special education and mental health parity. She has led legislative and lobbying efforts for the educational needs of all children but especially those with special needs.She is a founding member of the Michigan Alliance for Special Education. She also serves on the Advisory Council for Pediatric Psychopharmacology at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She is a past board member of the Child &Adolescent Bipolar Foundation. Fee Schedule: $100 per hour.
