Special Education Advocate (Marcie Lipsitt)

Marcie Lipsitt is a special education advocate representing children withdisabilities and their parents in disputes with public school districts. Her practicefocuses on the rights of students with disabilities pursuant to the Individuals withDisabilities Education Act. She is a passionate advocate that has representedstudents and their parents in connection with Student Classification, IEPDevelopment, Extended School Year, Transition Planning and Discipline. Shehas worked on behalf of her clients with school districts and Intermediate SchoolDistricts throughout the Metropolitan Detroit Area, Washtenaw County andIngham County. She has also assisted many parents in developing the skills theyneed to advocate for their children’s rights. Ms. Lipsitt is a tireless advocate forchildren with disabilities. She has written widely on issues related to specialeducation and mental health parity. She has led legislative and lobbying effortsfor the educational needs of all children but especially those with special needs.She is a founding member of the Michigan Alliance for Special Education. Shealso serves on the Advisory Council for Pediatric Psychopharmacologyat the Massachusetts General Hospital. She is a past board member of Child &Adolescent Bipolar Foundation.Fee Schedule: $100 per hour.
